Fan Zhang has a Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and he has a Data Analytics Master’s degree from Ivey Business School. He would consider himself as a mentor who not only knows the technical part but also knows how to apply them to a real business scenario. Fan was in Bell Canada for 4 years, and worked his way out from a Hadoop analyst contractor role to a senior data developer within the same team. Later on, he switch his focus from data science to data engineering and worked in both small SASS startups and big tech firms.
He had extensive knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem, played with petabyte levels of data, and transformed them into useful insights for various Bell internal clients. He also has tons of experience in terms of building/deploying enterprise-level of ML/DL solutions, meanwhile, building up multiple ETL pipelines using Hadoop/Cloud solutions. Currently, Fan works at Meta, dealing with fun projects that involve various external/internal teams.
Fan was a new grad who applied for hundreds of jobs and he would love to share those experiences with the mentees, hopefully, it can help the mentee succeed!
